Between our Baltimore and Washington, DC, venues, more than 17,500 animals representing 900 species call the National Aquarium home. There are constant changes, additions, and more going on behind the scenes that our guests may not notice during their visit. We want to share these fun updates with our community so we’re bringing them to you in our weekly Animal Update posts!
Check our blog every Friday to find out what’s going on… here’s what’s new this week!
New Coral
We’ve added a number of new corals to our Pacific Coral Reef and Occupying exhibits. These corals include yellow sun polyps, green and purple star polyps and bright orange mushrooms!
Be sure to check back every Friday to find out what’s happening!
Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and
gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely
off topic but I had to tell someone!
Oh no! We’re sure that hermit crab was just as frightened of your daughter 😉
Hopefully, you both can pay us a visit soon and we’ll ease her back into loving the ocean!
