I use cloth napkins instead of paper. Always. It just feels so much more civilized, even when the dinner is takeout! I think choosing to never use disposables saves untold amounts of resources. The napkins get used a few times and then thrown into the laundry that I was going to run anyway.

One thing we have always done is use cloth napkins and real plates and cups. It is not difficult to make napkins, or purchase if you do not sew. They get used several times, and get thrown in whatever load of laundry they most belong in. Not ever using disposables makes a big difference! Not to mention feels quite civilized, even when the dinner is takeout!
